It's a great privilege to endorse the architectural firm of Straughn Trout Architects, LLC. (STA).  The firm has established a commitment to education over their 56+ year history, specifically here locally in Polk County. With a portfolio of hundreds of projects for both K-12 and Higher Educational clients, their team has experience in every type of academic space and building imaginable.
For over more than a decade, Straughn Trout has partnered with Auburndale High School through the Architectural Design & Engineering Academy.  They have made consistent efforts to mentor and develop future professionals by committing time and internships, scholarships and sponsorships. Many of our students with an interest in the profession of architecture have had an invaluable opportunity to learn from the leadership of the firm and to receive guidance in their vocational career pursuits.
Auburndale High School students can enroll in the four-year Architectural Design & Engineering Academy that offers several programs related to architecture, including a Drafting and Design Technology.  The Architectural Design & Engineering Academy program prepares students to develop and design technical drawings and plans used in Architectural Design, Engineering, and Construction. The program provides students with instruction in fundamental and advanced drafting skills as well as training in several drafting disciplines. A primary goal of the program is to train students towards industry certifications in Autodesk AutoCAD 2016, Autodesk Revit, Inventor 2016, and Solid-Works, software.
Straughn Trout Architects is a proud Business Partner of the Auburndale Architectural & Engineering Academy. Tim Hoeft (AHS ’00), Associate AIA, serves on the Academy’s Advisory Board as well as an occasional guest instructor.

Nicolas took the position, and started displaying an exuberant passion for architecture, Straughn Trout presented Nicolas with a scholarship to attend during the summer of 2012.  Design Explorations Program (DEP) at the University of Florida’s School of Architecture in Gainesville. During the program, Nicolas was able to experience living on campus and received instruction from University of Florida, professors.
These two Auburndale High School alumni are only a small sampling of the impact the firm has had mentoring local young professionals. Resume to be updated soon;

Mark Jackson
JBT Corp LAKELAND, FLORIDA
DRAFTSMAN / DESIGNER
INVENTOR

AUBURNDALE HIGH ALUMNI  - CLASS OF  1974
I am an alumni of AHS class of 1974. I learned mechanical and architectural drafting under the watchful eyes of Mr. Ray Daniels. Safe to say that his classes were my favorites.  My understanding of mechanical drawing would go on serve me well, first as a machinist and later as a product development technician and tool designer.

At this point my career is drawing to a close. I plan to retire in the next three or four years. When it ends, I will have spent over forty five years in a career that mechanical drawing was my one of my most fundamental skills.

I am currently employed by JBT Corp. (Formerly FMC) in Lakeland. I have been there over twenty years now. During my tenure I have designed various components for our food processing equipment and am currently named as inventor or co-inventor on five U.S .Patents. In addition I've designed various machines and tooling and fixtures for our manufacturing department.

Well Nick, that's the short version of a long career, if you would like to learn more for your gallery of alumni please feel free to contact me.

Warm Regards,

Mark Jackson
